Grid Widget – the
Lightweight Approach to Grid Services
Abstract: Various so called Grid Widgets have been developed
by the Grid development team here in NCHC. These widgets were set
out to provide users with seamless and scalable access to Grid
resources. Currently, it joins the Grid, WebOS, and automatic
resource selection mechanism to build a virtual computer in
distributed environment. This progress helps to lower the barrier
for using Grid Computing Environment. It provides extremely
lightweight approach to acquiring Grid services and flexible Grid
Widgets for user to use the geographically distributed heterogeneous
Grid resources. The Resource Broker along with its capability to
automatically allocate resources with the feature of dynamic load
prediction has improved the performance of the dynamic scheduling
over conventional scheduling policies. The Grid Widgets provided can
also be customized and configured freely to suit the needsof the end
users.
DRBL/Clonezilla: The Massive Deployment Tools.
Abstract: DRBL (Diskless Remote Boot
in Linux) provides diskless or systemless environment. It uses
distributed hardware resources and makes it possible for clients to
fully access local hardware. It also includes Clonezilla, a
partition and disk cloning utility similar to Ghost. Clonezilla is a
partition or disk clone software similar to Ghost. It saves and
restores only used blocks in hard drive. Two types of Clonezilla are
available, Clonezilla live and Clonezilla SE (Server Edition). |

Taiwan Unigrid - A
Grid Platform for Academic Research in Taiwan
Abstract: Taiwan UniGrid
(Taiwan University Grid) is a Grid computing platform, which is
founded by a community of educational and research organizations
interested in Grid computing technologies in Taiwan. By the
implementation of UniGrid Portal, Computing Service, and Data
Service, applications or programs can be deployed and computed on
Taiwan UniGrid. In this demo, we introduce the development of this
project and use some cases consisting of MPI parallel jobs to
demonstrate that users can utilize Grid resources with ease via our
middleware platform. |

ASPOG: A Simulated
Production System on Grid Environments
Abstract: Lots of factory owners put large amount of funds
into the production without well-designed plans. We have designed an
efficient simulated production system named ASPOG on grid
environments. This system simulated the TFT-LCD process and
successfully applied grid computing to improve the load balancing.
We solve the Cross-Platform problem which is most simulated system
could not be. Users can use the ASPOG anywhere by the web browsers,
monitor the states of process clearly, and change the model by their
demand. By the way of simulated results, users can estimate the
ratio of the prime cost which they invest in and obtain the better
beneficial results as well as the complete exploitation of the raw
materials. This would not only know the benefits but also save a
large amount of raw materials. The experimental results show that
our ASPOG can let users to monitor the process clearly and has good
performance. |
